PCTGA strives to provide pertinent information to its growers to ensure local growers have profitable, successful businesses carried on in environmentally responsible ways. 

We strive to  ensure the consumers are knowledgeable about the locally-grown Christmas trees and are satisfied with their purchase

Association Profile

The PCTGA has about 25 members in Alberta and Saskatchewan. It is a non-profit co-operative grower organization controlled by the members and relies on the volunteer efforts of its members.

Services to Members*

Grower Education:

    • Field days, held at different plantations each summer, allow growers to see what other farmers are doing and receive information on topics relevant to growers' needs. This is an ideal time to discuss ideas, questions, and concerns with other people involved in the industry
    • Annual General Meetings that include discussions about the industry's activities and members shared experiences and plans.
    • The Resource Library includes literature, videos, and websites to help members access information on growing and marketing Christmas trees.
    • Information booklets are available to members and the public interested in learning more about growing and marketing real Christmas trees.
    • News updates on provincial and national happenings, plus a Subscription to the quarterly Christmas Trees Magazine is sent to members.

Marketing:

    • Maintain information on current and future planting trends on the prairies.
    • Collect statistics on consumers' Christmas tree preferences
    • Promote the natural Christmas tree industry through displays at Agribition and Gardenscape, news releases, and interviews with the media.
    • Represent growers and the industry with various organizations and government agencies. Members have present seminars on growing Christmas trees. The PCTGA has successfully participated in a number of studies and has lobbied to protect the interests of the industry.
    • Access to prairie-hardy seedlings at a reasonable price.

How to Join

    • The PCTGA welcomes potential new growers to join the Association.

    • Your application, accompanied by $25 to purchase a non-refundable share, will be reviewed by the next regular meeting of he Board of Directors.
    • Upon acceptance of your application, payment of your $95 annual dues will activate full membership privileges.

Information Booklet

A $10 Information booklet “Growing Christmas Trees on the Prairies” is available to individuals interested in learning more about growing and marketing Christmas trees.
